As I sit at 1:30 am with a woodford reserve/rocks in my hand - TopicsExpress

As I sit at 1:30 am with a woodford reserve/rocks in my hand (Honest and REAL) I want to tell you all about my experience tonight at the Human Rights Campaign Gala. I was asked to perform for 1300 people in the VIP..Silent auction room. As a supporter of HRC I was very excited to introduce OSCAR to a group that ( SUPPOSEDLY) supports gay and human rights. My guess is that most of them have no idea about Oscars imprisonment and STILL DONT!!! Oscars story is so relevant today and I was so amazingly ready to bring the audience into his world. As I introduced the aria and Oscars letter that Whitney Walters was reading...all 1300 gay men and lesbians and their supporters talked and drank and ignored!!!!!!! I sang and my accompanist Rolando Salazar played and the audience spoke louder and louder. I almost stopped singing and walked off the stage ,but I have too much respect for music and for Oscar Wilde and MYSELF to do that. Its very sad to me that I tried to bring something meaningful and powerful to a new audience and was rudely and disrespectfully ignored. I am gutted at the lack of respect tonight!! I donated my time tonight to something I believed in....
