~As I was in my prayer closet this morning ...These words weighed heavy on my heart: Uncharacteristics of a believer... So this morning at 8am I began searching scripture and with prayer and ultimately unaware but not surprised the good Lord led me to the sin of cursing/swearing/and there cousin GOSSIP! Ephesians 4:29 Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. Whats very surprising is the verse that follows: Do not grieve the Holy spirit ....and in verse 31 it states Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, brawling, and SLANDER, there it is. Being imitators of Christ we must follow closely in His likeness to wich the word commands guard your tongue because it holds the power of Life and Death. James makes it clear that the lives of Christians-the brothers- should not characterized by evil speech. James teaches in ch. 3:9 With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been mafe in Gods likeness. Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. Then in v11. States can both fresh water and salt water flow from the same spring? Why is it a sin to curse/swear/slander/gossip? All of these are a condition of the heart ...Luke 6:45 out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. Our speech will always indicate whats in our hearts. Anger, bitterness, resentment, envy, lust, gossip...all evidence of sin polluting the heart that must be confessed and repented of. Always remember Gossip..cursing...lying...slandering..profanity only bring the curse upon the life it was released from. God is a just God and He loves His children so when we use this type of language against a fellow believer well the evidence is the same ...a life of struggle ...shame...and unhappiness...BUT! THANKFULLY in 1st John 1:9 it states that if we confess our sins He is faithful and just cleanse us and purify us if ALL on unrighteousness. Then and only then a new nature is created and God begins to transform us into His likeness and the old man filled with its sinful corruptable nature is vanquished along with its evil desires. Be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind and let God loves your heart to the extent where old is gone and the evidence of the new man appears. Let the good man bring forth the good that is stored up in his heart. STOP cursing Stop gossiping STOP slandering or using profanity and professing the Gospel. #overcomesin#changeyourheart#♡
