As I witnessed again recently, those calling for tolerance are some of the most hate-filled, attacking, mean-spirited people you will ever encounter. (The exceptions to that rule really stand out and should be commended.) When we simply say, Our constitution allows us religious freedoms and the government should not trample those under foot, we are called Nazis, Klansmen, Christofascists (and more) and likened to Islamic terrorists. This venom, of course, follows standard gay talking points more than 25 years old, but the tragic thing is that many people actually believe this garbage to be true, so if you simply say, Marriage is the union of a man and a woman, something that even President Obama claimed to believe until a few years ago, you are vilified as the worst of bigots. In light of this, we really need to step up our prayers for those who attack and malign us, asking God to grant them repentance and mercy in their ignorance (just as He had mercy on us in our ignorance), we need to bless those who curse us, and we need to take this is a further sign that were doing right.
