As Malaysia Day is fast approaching, heres lovely cake by BunsInTheOven Cupcakery which was featured in the Cake Masters magazine in the UK! Owner Sheryl described this work of art: On the bottom tier is a mix of old and new; backdrop of KL city skyline featuring her most well-known skyscraper; the Petronas Twin Tower and on the forefront is a showcase of local fruits (buah salak, mango, banana, mangosteen, durian, coconut and pineapple), the national flower – hibiscus as well as a few traditional art specialties prominent in various states in the country; wayang kulit (shadow puppet), kuda kepang (a dance featuring performers seated astride a two dimensional horse made of pleated rattan) and wau bulan (moon-kite). The middle tier represents Malaysias gorgeous underwater life and sea scape, highlighting the endangered leatherback turtle against lush colourful corals. Around the hundreds of tropical islands, you’ll find exotic marine life beneath pristine waters - some of which are rarely experienced anywhere else on earth. And finally the top tier represents East Malaysia’s stunning natural beauty with rich wildlife from the rainforests of Borneo, home to the endangered orangutans and proboscis monkeys. Here you will also find the worlds largest flower; rafflesia as well as the handsome rhinoceros hornbill which is the country’s national bird. All these, nestled against rugged Mount Kinabalu with a very cheery Kampung Boy (a much loved comic character by famous cartoonist Lat) proudly brandishing the Malaysian flag on its peak. To know Malaysia, is to love Malaysia! - what do you think of this little tribute to Malaysia? ;)
