As a 14 year old I had a passion for math and loved my 9th grade drafting class in Cleveland. At age 15 my family moved to Chicago/Glenview and I was SO SO sad to move but SO SO excited that my new school offered drafting. In the first week a classmate who shared a table with me laughed and said it was not for girls. I hadnt even noticed that I was the only girl in class. The teacher didnt encourage me. I was new and scared and wanted to fit into this new North Shore school culture that was so very different from my Cleveland upbringing. I folded into an invisible person and disappeared into thin air.
