As a Dabawneyo, why am I joining the mass protest actions during the visit of Barrack Obama in the Philippines on October 11-12, 2013? His visit has two main agenda: 1. Greater US military access to Philippine territories and facilities ( building military bases in Davao, General Santos, Surigao, and other parts of Mindanao; drone - an Obama policy) - pivot in Asia in full swing. 2. Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) for further liberalization of Philippine economy since the American corporations have interests in mining ($24.8 billion in Brgy. Kingking, Pantukan and $38 billion in New Bataan, Compostela Valley Province); oil/natural gas in Agusan and Ligawasan marshes and Sulu sea, coal deposits in Southern Mindanao and deuterium (fuel from heavy water, an isotope of hydrogen) in Philippine deep in Surigao to sustain the power supply for their military bases and investments (General Motors and Ford will shift their operations from China to Davao City). Dabawenyos are the sons and daughters of Datu Mangulayon. "He was a hero, he was the greatest native of Davao. And so while he was still alive, and returned to Malalag area once in a while, everyone, friend or foe, kept silent. He must have awed those he chose to show himself to, being the only native who had killed the most powerful American enemy." - Don Pagusara, Ateneo de Davao University literature teacher and Palanca awardee OBAMA, OUT! Fight US plunder, intervention and terrorism in Mindanao! Raise the banner of patriotism! DOWN with US imperialism and bureucrat capitalism! Well, Davao PUNCH against US imperialism!
