As a beach resort community, the Town of Colonial Beach, Virginia, - TopicsExpress

As a beach resort community, the Town of Colonial Beach, Virginia, was coined the “Playground on the Potomac” in the late 19th Century. It has since grown into a very caring, close-knit community. Neighbor looks after neighbor, and there is a personal relationship between business owners and residents. Year after year the organizations, clubs, and residents of Colonial Beach have pooled their money and conducted fund raisers to assist the town’s high school seniors in continuing their education. Even in tough economic conditions the community scholarships have provided the graduates with college assistance. Colonial Beach High School is most grateful to the community’s organizations for their continued support and concern for its graduates. Our sincere thanks and appreciation go to the following organizations, clubs, and individuals for their generous contributions: American Legion Post #148, American Legion Auxiliary Post #148, Anne Skinner Denson Memorial Scholarship Committee (CBHS PTA), Charles E. Catlett Jr. Memorial Scholarship Committee, Colonial Beach Artists’ Guild, Colonial Beach Boosters Club, Colonial Beach Chamber of Commerce, Colonial Beach Education Foundation, Colonial Beach Episcopal Church Women, Colonial Beach United Methodist Women, Colonial Beach Yacht Club , Fraternal Order of the Eagles Auxiliary #4315, Nancy R. Barnes Memorial Scholarship Committee (CBES PTA), Norman Brewington Memorial Scholarship Committee, and Women’s Business Network of the Northern Neck. Through their generosity, Colonial Beach High School graduates were awarded over $14,000 in scholarships.
