As a cat owner myself, I reckon this is a very reasonable measure to mitigate the impacts of domestic cats on native wildlife. Pleas read the article. Cats are one of the most damaging invasive species in Australia. There are an estimated 75 million feral cats across the country, each of which kills between 1-40 native animals per day. Do the maths, the impact is mind boggling!! No wonder Australia has the poorest record in the world when it comes to native mammal extinctions!! Eradication is going to be near impossible but halting the impact of domestic cats is very manageable.
