As a fan we get emotionally attach to certain players even though they are in decline of their playing days. Coach Walsh realizes this long ago, although players assumes they are still productive, he knows better. He acted in the best interest of the organization and the team. He made sure they are a Super Bowl contender each year. For us, its very difficult to detach ourselves to someone we idolize and cant accept the truth. He is human after all and has emotion and attachment for his players, but had to take his feelings out of the equation. Thats why he was a successful coach. Now, we see ourselves in the same crossroad with Panda. Panda has been with the organization since day one. He grew up in the farm system with the Giants. All he knows is Giants. He will wear this regardless of what team he plays. The Giants won 3 World Series Championship with him. Again, with him and not solely by him. It takes a whole lot more to win in any given games. The city, organization, teammates and fans. We have a fan base that supported the Giants when they were down. When players were in the funk, we were patient with them. Pablo has won three rings and hes making a choice to settle with the best offer. He chose this because he has nothing else to prove. Now he wants more money for his service. The problem I see with this is that, youre paying for service not yet rendered. Youre basing your information on what might be. How many teams have done that and it turned out to be a bust. Do you remember Uribe, Alex Rodriguez, Cody Ross and Barry Zito. They all received generous offer but did not perform. Its part of the business and I can relate to it!
