As a gift to myself, I actually ordered the on demand THE INTERVIEW. To the best of my knowledge its on YouTube and in the GOOGLE play store (both owned by the sane company). My expectations were low, but I found it very funny. Much better than any ROGEN/FRANCO movie made in the past. (PINEAPPLE EXPRESS, THIS IS THE END, NEIGHBORS) This was obviously going to be a dick and fart movie, of which there are plenty gags involving boners and crapping ones pants. The production value was fantastic, making its believe that they were actually in a remote palace filled with people who believe the propaganda of their supreme leader. The movie also paints a oddly sympathetic role for Kim Jong Un, making you feel bad for one of the most despised men on the planet. It would have been too easy to go with the insane-dictator-mad-with-power route. My one tiny complaint is that they could have tried to make the actor that played KIM, look a little bit more like the real man. In particular his hair, where the real KIM has a fade hairstyle, the actor was wearing a wig. And he could have put on a few more pound, RAGING BULL style, to resemble the plump face of the Korean dictator. All in all, I give this an 8.5 out of 10. For a silly movie that actually sparked a global incident involving cyber terrorism that went all the way up to the White House, Id say this movie will always be overshadowed by the events it provoked. It was immature, but earnest and funny. I recommend seeing it.
