As a kid I sat at a bus stop eating the 99 cent Whopper that a stranger bought me. All I knew were the streets. I also knew I would never give up, on what myself. Being out of school for 4 years and living on the streets and in shelters I was so far behind my middle school kicked me out. Sometimes I felt lost, but I always found my way. I always was rapping and singing as a kid, and knew one day I would do music. Well at 19 years old I got the chance. The time had come, the audition I had be practicing for all my life. Lets just say the first album hit the billboard charts three times. I got to tour and travel around the U.S and Mexico in front of sometimes 30,000 screaming fans. Wow it was crazy standing on stage. After 5 albums and ten years, I wanted to be close to home and started doing voice overs for radio, and TV commercials. With hundreds of commercials I started a print , design, and media company. After doing that for some time, got the chance to do a cook off. Well two years I worked my but off at every level and learned what I needed to know. By the third year I was in love with BBQ and the whole culture. So I made the only Texas BBQ Tv show called BBQ Texas Tv Show, and traveled all around Texas showcasing Cook Offs and Cooking Teams. Day and night we traveled with no sponsorship which was hard but we seemed to do it. As I got out the vehicle several time teams would scream Big Tex! Lol thats when I knew we were doing something right. At the same time we were promoting The Big Tex Cook Off . The Biggest , Baddest Cook off in Texas of the summer. Allot of people said you wont pull it off, that takes allot of money you dont got. Teams wont come, the city will stop you, they dont want you here. Everything you can think about we had to fight for. But what they didnt know was I had been fighting all my life. We fought from the beginning to the end. From set up to trash pick up. Well it happened we did do it! We did what so many said we couldnt , not only that but brought Cookers from all races and places. That my friends was enough for me to declare victory . For Doctor Higgs, the black man that adopted me and showed me so much love, for the Latinos that never got the fair shake, and for my white brothers that never knew how great it would be to Cook with other races. You see I have been raised by all, and love all. And bringing everyone together was a dream come true. Thanks to all that supported us. So now we got BBQ Texas TV Show, Our new Clothing line Big Tex BBQ Wear, The Big Tex Cook Off, and Coming soon well lets just say we got a couple BBQ Products Coming... Stay Tuned in. Ps that School that kicked me out now has my picture in the main entrance, lol god works in mysterious ways , much love Big Tex Sam
