As a narcissistic young man, I can say that this is true. We can be very intense, obsessive, and controlling. There is, for me, also the recognition of this. Indeed, this recognition causes me to focus more on who I ought to be rather than who I have been. Who I ought to be, and and indeed the awareness, of this person is simply who I am on the inside without internal pain. This pain causes defense mechanisms which manifested themselves as a narcissistic personality, masking who I am on the inside; which is indeed, intimate, caring, stable and secure. For a number of years now, this awareness has resulted in an internal struggle to once again find these latter characteristics, and in doing so; forsaking the former narcissist. Hmmm....perhaps simply discussing this forsakes humility in lieu of an attempt to be heard. I dont care, though; not today...because this is who I am today...Grateful that future Shannon Loves past Shannon.
