As a people, we have subscribed to the adolescent notion that our freedom is this ability to do whatever we want, whenever we want, and wherever we want, without interference from any authority. I have to ask as a Constitutionalist, could the insanity of our modern approach to life be anymore apparent? Freedom IS NOT the ability to do whatever we want. Freedom IS the strength of character and the self-possession to do what is good, what is true, what is right, & what is noble. Therefore, freedom without discipline is impossible. Character is built upon our ability for discipline to grow bit by bit, moment by moment in our daily lives. So freedom in its very essence, is self-possession (self-control), and it is not an unearned right...... it is a privilege of the few who has the wisdom and knowledge to build it, defend it, & celebrate it by disciplining themselves on the issues of life, liberty, & the pursuit of happiness as stated in the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence. ©-Brian Duvall-Gambino
