As a poet, I have always celebrated the influence of the poets - TopicsExpress

As a poet, I have always celebrated the influence of the poets before me. From the likes of Carlton Rodney Gardiner, Shakespeare, TS Elliot, Yeats, Sir Derick Walcott, Mutaburka etc. I continue to do so with other poets like David Bowen, Jamaal St. John, Oswald Skippings, Tshaka Menelik Campbell, Rachel Harvey, etc. Saul Williams made me move my poetry to the stage and Will Da Real One made me become a recording artist. Bruce George made me go back to the drawing board and work harder. The list of poets who helped and continue to help shape my poetry can never be exhausted... All of these poets are great to me in their own way. Recognizing their greatness doesnt take any thing away from me as a poet. I will continue to honor them. After two books and one CD... this year makes a decade since I became a performance poet. I have an incredible CD I am working on with A Guy Called Purple... Trust me, this guy is a genius! So look out for Illegal Thoughts? in the near future... its going to be a classic!
