As a psychiatrist, Sebastian Zimmerman noticed that while his job called for him to meet and talk to people, he actually spent much of his days alone in his office. That revelation prompted Zimmerman, an avid photographer and PPD reader, to start shooting portraits of other New York City shrink in their workspaces. The result is the new book Fifty Shrinks. Zimmerman, who started photography as a way to counterbalance all the trauma and drama he dealt with during office hours, took 13 years to produce the book: “These are private offices that people don’t generally see,” he tells the NY Times. “Even therapists might not ever see the inside of 50 offices.” Join him for a book signing in NYC on Nov. 10.
