As a young man I didnt hunt deer. I was an avid duck hunter and even made my own cork body decoys. Back in the early 70s there were lots of canvasbacks and I shot them with regularity. But then they became more scarce. Eventually the season was closed - for decades. I lamented the fact that I never mounted a pair of this handsome species. They re-opened the season with a limit of one per day and number of years ago, but I have not been able to harvest any until one of our young CTO boys GUIDED ME! Peyton Foster has occasionally had some canvasback on his family property and invited me to come hunt. So I brought a few of my old canvasback decoys out of retirement and on that frigid 5 degree morning earlier this week I hunted canvasback once again. While we only saw one, I was successful in harvesting the first half of the pair I have been trying to collect for many years. Thank you Peyton!
