As far as the World Cup goes, ONLY these 8 countries have EVER won it since it began in 1930 (how bloody boring) so I would like to see ANY OTHER country win it this time, shake up the status quot everywhere - even in sports. Brazil 5 times, Italy 4 times, Germany 3 times, Argentina 2 times, Uruguay 2 times, France 1 time, Spain 1 time, UK 1 time.....I dont really see any non-Latin American or European team left having any realistic chance of winning the Cup this year, based on talent displayed so far - if the 8 who go forward from the current 16 are not these 8: Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, France, Argentina, Germany, Belgium and Netherlands - it will be a shock - though Mexico has about the best chance of any to pull-off an upset win...though the German trained team USA has some skills up their sleeve (according to Coach Klinsman) so I am not ruling out that possible upset win.....though the odds are high against it....it WOULD be nice to boost the popularity of the Game if the USA won their next match and actually got into the final 8...but again, it would almost be a miracle for them to beat Belgium unless they TRULY have some great new tactics to employ. Additional tid-bits of info = 8 of the best 16 currently still in the contest were from the Americas (North, Central & South), 6 from Europe, and 2 from Africa. Of these 16 - 11 NEVER won it before...so that gives hope that 2014 MIGHT be the year of the underdog.
