When Hispanic/Latinos who are already in office or are in higher positions havent or dont continuously mentor future leaders we are left with a HUGE gap of Hispanics and Latinos that dont vote, that are not engaged or worseviavl we LOOSE viable, future potential candidates who fail to see their worth! Wasted potential due to the lack of mentoring! The disparity is so stark,” said Cristobal Alex, president of the Latino Victory Project, according to the Post. “And that is why we have to begin developing the pipeline now, not only for 2014 but laying groundwork that will take us to 2016 and then to 2020. That is the year for us when Latinos will be in a position to influence the Oval Office.” A statement announcing the launch of the project said: “The lack of Latinos running for office further discourages political participation in the Latino community: when voters do not see people on the ballot that reflect their community, they are less likely to vote. It is this glaring disparity in political power and representation that led leaders in the Latino community to launch the Latino Victory Project.”
