As it gets hot, with school out, I can not help but remembering - TopicsExpress

As it gets hot, with school out, I can not help but remembering all the kids that came to our house every summer. Friends, cousins, escaping to the country, enjoying what we saw every day and took for granted. I think a lot of town raised kids got a little exposure to country life that way and some of them seemed to love it. My Daddy could fix a lot of stuff on our cars but sometimes he used a mechanic in Roswell named Wayne. Daddy invited Wayne to come deer hunt, and I know Waynes kids got a Christmas Tree that Daddy cut off the ranch every year. Summer time came around and Waynes kids took turns coming and staying a week or two, except Howard. Howard came when school turned out, stayed pretty much all summer, and was game to help Daddy with every thing from working on a pipeline to marking lambs. Daddy loved Howard. Howard got excited about and enjoyed things we took for granted. He rode around with Daddy, opened gates, and listened to Daddy tell the local history. We all have history and we all have a legacy to leave behind. That is what is awesome about this page. The picture you take the story you tell may give someone pleasure and make them appreciate things more. I hope you can each find your Howard, that you can share your memories, and time with. I know how much it meant to my Daddy.
