As many are aware, its not possible to simply walk into Mordor. No, first you need to make sure your passport is in order, that youve taken out insurance in case anything happens to you and your belongings, and that youre not being chased down by the forces of Sauron because youre trying to smuggle the One Ring up your secret baggage compartment. Luckily, Shadow of Mordor isnt about any of that nonsense. Instead, you play a part-ghost man who gets to kill orcs and uruks with awesome part-ghost powers and de-stabilise armies for his own political ends. Our Ed absolutely loved it, save for the horrendously bland story, and thinks youd be a fool of a Took to miss it. Hes being held in the punishment cage for that one. Shadow of Mordor is full of moments you can’t help but want to share with your friends in case they’re entirely unique to your experience. After letting loose a nest of morgai flies, I saw an archer throw himself off the side of the castle and into the water below rather than be attacked by the little buzzers. My personal favourite by far was chasing my then-nemesis halfway across the map, only for him to run past a cave where a graug was emerging, which responded to the uruk’s presence by stomping him to death and chasing after me instead.
