As many of you know I have worked in the petroleum industry for over 30 years and Ive seen many changes (good and bad) . Well I was in a meeting recently where a discussion was on our national need for more power plants and refineries if we are going to be energy independent. Also the government is strangling small energy companies out of existence that have served their customers well for many years. Last winter the North East was at times at 100% powergrid usage and if just one grid had failed there would have been a massive power black out, which would have meant millions of homes and businesses without power. Since we still generate most of our electricity from coal powered plants we should not be shutting down more coal mines. Until we have the technology to replace our coal and oil on a large scale we should stop demonizing our industries. Our American companies have done well and provided good services on the most part and still provide good jobs without a tax burden to the tax payers. Sears, Walmart, Exxon-Mobil, Shell, Safeway etc are all fighting to exist in California and other anti- business pro govt states. This has weighed heavily on my mind as of late. I dont have a lot of years left on this earth but my concern is for our youth, I think of the next generations and what type of lifestyle they will have and how much more intrusive will the government regulators be in the future. So when we say our prayers and vote next time keep this in mind.
