As many of you would know I was involved with Miss Africa New - TopicsExpress

As many of you would know I was involved with Miss Africa New Zealand, as of today I am no longer part of the team. I would like to thank the New Zealand African Welfare Service Trust for giving me the opportunity to head the project. It all started last year when Frank approached me from the trust to help them with a fundraising initiative. I suggested we hosted a Miss Africa Auckland show that would serve many purposes: 1. To raise some funds for the trust 2. To empower young African women in Auckland. 3. To bring our community together to celebrate the beauty that our beautiful mother Africa had to offer At that point I was in my second year at university and I had never organized an event before. I was extremely humbled by the support I received from the trust and the African community. I always believe that sometimes for someone to learn something they do not need to be an expert but they just need someone to show that they have confidence in them and what they are doing. The confidence the trust had in my capability to organize Miss Africa and where the brand was going was further exemplified when the trust registered Miss Africa New Zealand under their umbrella. It was my surprise Christmas present and it showed how serious the brand and the project was being taken. Overall, in my journey in life I will never forget my journey with Miss Africa Auckland and Miss Africa New Zealand as I have learnt a lot of valuable lessons and skills that I will utilise in the future. Although I have resigned from the team, I wish them all the best for the show and any other coming projects that will be headed under the Miss Africa New Zealand umbrella.
