As my friend Greg Simpson said when he alerted me to this - TopicsExpress

As my friend Greg Simpson said when he alerted me to this forgotten gem The amount of artists and songs influenced by this record is dwarfed by the artists who were impacted. The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Steve Marriott, Spencer Davis, and Carlos Santana, just to name a few. Not only does the guitar riff turn up in Zeppelins Moby Dick, but the Beatles based TWO of their hits on it, I Feel Fine, and Day Tripper. The song itself was written by this artist to reflect Ray Charless Whatd I Say, and Dizzy Gillespies Manteca. The man himself was a member of Otis Williams and the Charms before Otis formed the Temptations. He also played and toured with Bo Diddley, Chuck Berry, Sam Cooke, Jackie Wilson, LaVern Baker, Clyde McPhatter, and the Everly Brothers. A previous song he wrote, Youve Got What it Takes was recorded by Marv Johnson, after being stolen by Barry Gordy and the songwriting credits changed to Berry Gordy, Gwen Fuqua and Roquel Davis. Same as it always was. When I started out in Stockton California, every band in town had this tune on their set list. As great today as it was then. Bobby Parker. August 31st, 1937 - October 31st, 2013. It should have made it onto The great Led Zeppelin swindle album. https://youtube/watch?v=mJCzjF7MvpM
