As of today., Cespedes is a good trade because he has right handed power, can play left field, has a gun (Cespedes-Bradley-Victorino may be the best throwing outfield in the history of baseball and Im serious) He is a bad trade because its reactionary..(.they goofed up signing Lester and in essence, lost him. Also, Lester came up through the system, remember the cancer, contributed greatly to the last two World Series and now because hes 30, theyre giving him the boot.) Cespedes has low OBP, which the Red Sox believe is more important than RBIs, hes a strikeout machine. The low pitches per AB will keep opponents pitch counts down and keep their bullpens out of games. His high strikeout rate is a rally killer. So my final analysis is this helps stablize Boston through the end of next year, which they need because they cant make a decision, it gives them the right handed power that they desperately need, and it significantly weakens their pitching staff, which seems to be getting worse as the season rolls on. I wish Lester were still in Boston...mistakes were made. Time goes on. This helps the bottom line.
