As part EDC’s objective to promote entrepreneurship in Nigeria, the Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) will hold with a series of events from 18th to 24th of November, 2013. GEW remains the world’s largest celebration of innovators and job creators aimed at driving economic growth and expanding human welfare. Every November, GEW in over 120 countries inspires thousands of people everywhere through local, national and global activities designed to help them explore their potentials as self-starters and innovators. The activities connect participants to potential collaborators, mentors, and even investors. GEW Nigeria is hosted by EDC with two national partners (Etisalat Nigeria and Stanbic IBTC Bank) and has scheduled a variety of activities for the week. These include; a. The GEW Walk –Saturday, Nov 16, 2013. This is to kick off the GEW week in Nigeria. Route: Take off point -EDC, VI Campus via- Adeola Hopewell – via- Adetokunbo Ademola – via – Ahmed Bello – via – Adeola Odekun – via Akin Adesola – via Ademola Alakija and terminates at Muri Okunola ground. For free participation, register below. b. Women in Enterprise program with the theme Removing Barriers to Scaling Up will hold on Monday, Nov 18, 2013. Women in Technology will be one of the topics at the event. Venue: US Consulate, Walter Carrington Street, V.I, Lagos. Only 100 participants will be admitted. c. 3rd Student Entrepreneurship Dialogue – Tuesday, Nov 19, 2013. This is a conference that exposes young people to the benefits of entrepreneurship, innovation and creativity and how they can turn little ideas into big businesses. There will be pitching sessions at this event. Venue: Lagos Business School, Ajah. Registration is free! d. Agro – Ignite in Calabar – Wednesday, 20 Nov, 2013. A platform to engage Agric. Business and stakeholders on the state of agriculture in Nigeria and discuss on the way forward in promoting that sector. Venue: Transcorp Metropolitan Hotel. e. An Entrepreneurship Walk with a CEO in Abuja – Thursday, 21st Nov, 2013. There will be a walk for entrepreneurship which will engage hundreds of people in the Abuja metropolis. The CEO will share the success story and challenges faced. f. Market Access Nigeria in Lagos - Thursday, 21st Nov, 2013. This event is expected to create opportunities for credible small and growing businesses (SGBs). It is an event aimed at bridging the gap between large companies and SGBs while fostering network and partnership opportunities. Venue: Muson Centre, Agip Hall, Lagos Island. Registration is free! g. On Friday, 22 Nov, 2013 – A workshop on Wellness & Stress Management will be holding at TerraKulture, Tiamiyu Savage Street, Victoria Island, Lagos. Limited spaces available! h. Grand Finale – Dec 6, 2013. This event marks the end of the GEW and EDC Celebration of entrepreneurial activities.
