As part of being a Geva Cohort group member I have received daily performance reports to my e-mail during the run of Little Shop of Horrors. What strikes me is that on any given day of a live performance things dont always go by the script. I have read the reports and after the fact have read how each situation was dealt with, and many times the audience isnt aware of any abnormality. Tomorrow night I will have an opportunity that I am excited about. Jenn Lyons, the stage manager for Shop has agreed to let me shadow her during tomorrow nights performance. She is one of the busiest people at Geva at the time of a performance of Shop. Ive sat near her during rehearsals, so I have some insight into how demanding a job it is, but in the rehearsal hall it was only a part of the picture. Live production, she also has input to lighting, sound, stage hands performing scenery and set changes during blackouts and Im sure more. When a decision as to how to deal with out of the ordinary arises she is the one making the decision. I think it will be so cool to observe her, and am thrilled that I am being allowed this opportunity.
