As part of my recovery from Unbreakable last night, Ive been watching the most frivolous movies I can find today and picking them apart ruthlessly. (See my recent quote on pet peeves being cathartic for me, and this status will make even more sense.) My latest involves pretty much any space cowboy movie. Youre telling me that aliens are going to build machines powerful enough to cross interstellar space, create artificial gravity, life support, and all the ridiculously advanced technology they need to wage war across the stars. And it doesnt occur to any of them to make guided weaponry? Seriously, Independence Day? The aliens must have fired about 600 little green unguided laser missiles for every one that hit something. America today has far better guided weaponry.
