As promised: Reliability v/s validity of the scientific investigation results. • Reliability refers to the repeatability of the investigation results, if you perform(repeat) the same practical investigation several times and keep on getting the same results, then the investigative results are reliable. •Validity It has to do with the correctness of the investigative process: The controlled variables have to be kept constant in both the experiment and control. If say you are investigating the effectiveness of various contraceptive methods on birth control, you shall have to use females of the same age, health, with the same diet, living in the same environmental conditions etc. Otherwise the effectiveness/ineffectiveness of some of the methods might have been influenced by other uncontrolled factors and therefore the results are not valid.
