As public servants, VA employees have a solemn obligation to ensure that veterans receive the respect, support, and care they have earned and rightly expect. Across the nation, the VA has demonstrated a widespread and systemic lack of accountability manifested in infectious disease outbreaks, preventable deaths, wasteful spending, and backlogged disability claims. Today, I offered an amendment to the Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Appropriations Act prohibiting bonuses for senior VA executives. These valuable resources should be used to ensure that our veterans receive the first-rate service and care they rightfully deserve.
