As shown by the fossil record, creatures have always come and gone. However, the carbon impact of our species on the planet is apparently comparable to the astroid that caused extinction of the dinosaurs; and has now been deduced by scientists as spewing more carbon than the volcanoes that likely caused the Great Dying of the Permian Extinction. As ice caps melt, and carbonic acidification affect alkalinity levels for ocean creatures to make their shells (endangering oxygen producing Phytoplankton), people continue to consume petroleum in bliss, and are even allowing economics and war to continue this excessively carbon spewing commodity by enabling petrodollar hegemony to sustain the US dollars value.... As the Coal Industry can easily burn 200 more years of coal, oxygen becoming scarce will just be treated as another profitable commodity.... The Anthropocene Period could be the most short-lived ever to have occured on the fossil record. The resultant ecocide, the barbarism, and the poverty have been symptoms of excessive self-interest and lack of integrity with community and nature. Will evolution of INTELLIGENCE be overpowered by excessive SELF-INTEREST?
