As some of you will have seen, a number of trees (3) are being removed in front of Council’s Zingel Place office this morning. The community should have been notified of this sooner, and for this we sincerely apologise. The reason for the tree removal is for unavoidable in-ground stormwater and water service upgrades to be carried out as part of the Town Hall demolition works. We are striving to improve our communications, and a number of successful changes have recently been implemented. These include the roving Councillor/Community Workshops where any local issue – including trees and communication – can be openly discussed. The next roving workshop is in Bega Council chambers on 4 December at 4pm. Other communications improvements have been implemented, or are on the way, but today’s example shows we still have a way to go. Rest assured we are working on this, and future communication between Council and the community WILL improve.
