As the 2013 Relay Season winds down (though we still have until the end of August to fundraise!!!), we begin to think about the 2014 Fairless Hills Relay For Life. Because of a lot of interest from some of you about how to help even more, we have expanded the committee positions for the 2014 Relay Season!!! How exciting is that?!?!? We are looking for those who are interested in a year round position to help our Relay be the biggest and best it can be! Below is a description of the open positions: 2014 Relay For Life Committee Job Description (Committee Members must be registered participants and have a willingness to learn about Relay For Life and the American Cancer Society.) 1. Team Recruitment / Development / Recognition ___________________________ Recruitment is the most important job on your committee for without teams you have no Relay. The entire committee will recruit teams, but it will be this person’s focus. The team development chair should recruit a subcommittee that consists of recruitment, retention, mentor and manager positions. The team Development Chair is responsible for recruiting new teams to participate in the event and retain veteran teams. This Chair also works with team captains to ensure that they know what their team is supposed to do before, during and after the event. Also ensures teams are informed of meetings, deadlines, etc.= 2. Sponsorship Chair __________________________________________________________ This person can put the icing on the cake when it comes to involving the business community and bringing in extra dollars. The Sponsorship Chair is responsible for presenting sponsorship and underwriting opportunities, while adhering to ACS sponsorship guidelines. This chair is responsible for collecting sponsor logos needed for t-shirts, event program, etc. 3. Activities / Entertainment Chair ___________________________________________ The Activities /Entertainment Chair keeps the participants involved and active for the entire event with games and competitions. This person is responsible for securing the music for the event, live performances, DJ or a combination. Their help may also be asked for during major fundraising events. 4. Publicity Chair ___________________________________________________________ The Publicity Chair works closely with the committee to develop and implement a strategy that promotes awareness and participation in RFL and ACS programs and services. This person should utilize available local media before, during and after the event and educate the public about cancer, ACS and RFL, generate interest and excitement about the event and major fundraising events associated with Relay. 5. Social Media Chair __________________________________________________________ This is a new position we are creating to work closely with the Publicity Chair and be responsible for Social Media publicity. This could easily be the same person if he/she has a good understanding of the American Cancer Society and Relay For Life, policies, and is familiar with social media such as face book, twitter, etc. 6. Website / Relay Online Chair ______________________________________________ This person would be responsible for updating the website, and ensuring that team captains, committee members and staff are utilizing the capabilities of Relay Online. This person will sit in on training sessions to learn how to use the functions of the website, make updates, and send participant emails (such as reminders of upcoming team leader meetings and summaries after team meetings.) 7. Relay-wide Fundraising Chair _________________________________________________ The Fundraising Chair will assist new teams with fundraising ideas and help team captains find the fundraiser that works best for their team. This person will also be responsible for holding several Relay-wide fundraisers to assist teams with their fundraising efforts. 8. Security Chair _____________________________________________________________________ This person is responsible for assigning a security team for the main event as well as large fundraising events. Chair and security team will make sure all Pennsbury and ACS rules are followed by participants and visitors. This team will also be assisting with parking to ensure handicap parking is available. They will help keep things running smoothly with unloading near the main gate only. If chair feels necessary, he/she will hold a meeting with team before events to schedule posts and review responsibilities. 9. Floating Chair – Angie DiGiorgio + _____________ The Floating Chair(s) will help wherever needed and get a better understanding of how a Relay For Life event is planned out. This person will hold this position for one year and see where they might want to focus leadership in the future. They are encouraged to attend committee meetings as well as team leader meetings.
