As the nation prepares for the harmonized elections tomorrow, it - TopicsExpress

As the nation prepares for the harmonized elections tomorrow, it is important to know that it is our right as citizens to cast our vote. The word "vote" comes from a Latin word Votum which means a promise or a vow. In a Democratic set up, power, will, authority, sovereignty belongs to the people. The Will of the people rules, all people have something to say in the land. Every person above the age of 18 years who is a citizen, has sovereignty and a right to vote. When we vote we surrender our sovereignty to support a leader. The people give their sovereignty, will, power, authority to a leader through a vote so that he can govern and rule in the land. Anyone who tries to govern and rule without the authority, will and power of the people commits a Coup de tat. When we vote, we are giving support to an idea in expectation that the idea will benefit us, we are giving power to someone or people to watch things on your behalf, so it is our responsibility. God created us as Free Moral Agents, which means we have the power to chose. He gives us options, He does not chose for us. He does not use democracy but He respects our choices. Democracy was started by the Greeks and Romans centuries ago, and in democracy, the will of the people rules (or must I say "should rule"). The people elect the president, he is subject to the people, God recognizes and respects the choice of the people, though He might not approve it, at times. Democracy is different from the Kingdom. In a Kingdom, the Will of the King Rules while in Democracy, the will of the people rules. The King selects the people, while in democracy the people elect the president. So lets go and exercise our right tomorrow and vote for our future, vision, dreams, aspirations, beliefs and values. People of Zimbabwe, Victory is certain
