As the sun rose Wednesday, just 36 votes separated U.S. Rep. Ron Barber and challenger Martha McSally in what looks to be a repeat of their 2012 Congressional District 2 battle. McSally held a razor-thin lead, 78,785 votes to 78,749, with 145 of 194 precincts counted. Provisional and early ballots dropped off at polling sites also were yet to be counted. In 2012, it took 11 days for a winner to be named, with Barber besting McSally by less than a percentage point – or about 2,500 votes.
