As the year rolls into spring, and we begin to look forward to the WFOT 2014 World Congress, I find myself giving serious consideration to how I want to present myself. I am not an academic, nor am I an educator and I am not working as a clinician, so who the hell am I? I am a creative practitioner, and this encompasses a range of activities: from my performance poetry, to my work with the Kawa Model, my skills and knowledge meander through many environments. Creativity has been regarded in the past as some kind of over emotional and ill defined discipline, but perhaps we are moving on from that misguided perspective now. Creativity must be disciplined, tempered and honed over years. Sure, there are times when the marshland of uncertainty prevaricates focused progress, but sometimes it is these circumstances that teach us how to promote the emergence of solidity and form. Finding a way through the ever shifting tides of creative thought develops a discipline of mind, body and spirit which is fundamental for personal and professional growth. So these are the initial thoughts that will develop the foundation for my presentations in Yokohama. Have a good week. DN.
