***As todays Crystal Cavern aired & I was listening all I could think was how fortunate I am to have such incredible talented wonderfully kind friends. What a great honour it is. We had a bit of a mic prob while Mr Pierro spoke but we carried on & it was fantastic. Big loves to Hamilton Radio for the support. The playlist...and did I mention how thrilled I am to hear such beauty from Duggy Degs | Brighton, UK after way too long*** 1. Dennis Holseybrook Go For A Ride intro 2. Jude Cowan To America now Jude C Montegue A mainstream influence track hmmm - it was written at a workshop run by RAy Davies where we had to write a song in response to a story in the news and it was about Louise Woodward - I imagined her as a teenager getting ready to go to America to work as an au pair. So I will pick a Ray Davies track as an influence. I would like Walter which he wrote about a childhood friend, as I am writing some songs at the moment about people of London. reverbnation/judecowan 3. Kinks (Ray Davies) Do you Remember Walter 4. Duggy Degs Sitting Son yes of course you can use henry. the influence was soft machine a certain kind...this from a new album in progress supported by JBP named Remote View 5. Soft Machine A Certain Kind 6. Nick Hudson No Matter No Matter is an adaptation of a poem by Polish composer Karol Szymanowski, addressed to his young male lover, Boris Kochno - a dancer and associate of Diaghilevs. There are four poems in this sequence. Ive adapted two and have two left. This song is from an album I made called TERRitORies of disSENT, which I self-released and had reviewed very favourably by Julian Cope, and David Tibet of Current 93. Its also the first in a cycle of five records, the fifth of which Im currently writing...As far as a mainstream influence - I Guess I Just Wasnt Made For These Times - The Beach Boys, from Pet Sounds... nickhudsonindustries.bandcamp/music 7. Beach Boys I Guess I Just Wasnt Made For These Times 8. Marneen Lynne Fields Release My Love Hi Deborah, I won Song of the Year - honorable mention with the song. Some of the judges who voted on my song to win were Alicia Keys, Gwen Steffani, Phil Collins, and Lenny Kravitz. My greatest influence as a songwriter has been the works of early Mariah Carey and Diane Warren. My main influences as a singer are Whitney Houston, Anne Wilson of Heart, and early Mariah Carey. My record producer on the song is Steve Valenzuela, sound engineer on Kelly Clarksons Catch My Breath. The song is available for purchase on CDBaby and you can see the music video on Vimeo. Gene played Benatars We Belong Together with the song on his show. The song has also been played next to Queens One Year of Love. This is such a great song with high production value it will sound great no matter who you play it next to. Please see the link under my name for additional links. Thanks again, Marneen Lynne Fields...Yes, Vision of Love is my choice also. This means so much to me being played next to her. Thanks so much. itsmyurls/marneenlynne ; 9. Mariah Carey Vison Of Love 10. Act Of Love (Simon Hill) Looking For The Light There ya go, Deborah - difficult choosing one track but off the top of todays head, Ill give you the choice of Bowies Can You Hear Me (Young Americans album) & Hot Burrito #1 by Flying Burrito Brothers - whichever fits best... reverbnation/actoflove 11. Flying Burrito Brothers Hot Burrito #1 12. Paul Butler She Runs With The Foxes OK Ms Millstein - here ya go! When I started this, I suppose I was thinking about all those “foxes” whom I’ve been privileged to have run across my path. The hook line always comes first with me! My first introduction to guitar came via my uncle, and his love for Django. He was a damn good swing player, too! When I did this track, I asked Tammy Rogers to do a Stephane Grappelli, in her own inimitable Bluegrass style. And boy, she did! The walking bass line comes from a million blues songs, and, of course, Nancy Sinatra’s “These boots were made for walking”. So those are the usual concoction of “influences”. A track?? I should go for Django and Stephane’s “Ultrafoxes” – but instead, I’m going suggest their version of “You’re driving me crazy”. I can even hear some of my guitar phrases in there! This track on Mr Butlers new CD Cities Made Of Gold paulbutler-music/ 13. Django Rheinhardt & Stephane Grappelli Youre Driving Me Crazy 14. Blackdog Hat Its Electric I think it might be Pick up the pieces by The Average White Band.... for some reason. blackdoghat/ 15. The Average White Band Pick Up The Pieces 16. New Cabrones (Gerald Maguire) Wolf Blitzer Inspired by a seriously friendly little bloke with a grey beard and his parroting of world events which we are supposed to take seriously. Musically ..its a (im told ) Bowie sound. Which is very flattering. I loved Bowie back in the day. A mention to Dirk Speksnijder here for his wonderful touches. He really is a Bowie boy!!! https://soundcloud/new-cabrones https://soundcloud/the-chuffboxes 17. David Bowie Im Afraid Of Americans 18. The Big I Am Better Days Hmm, an influence, haven’t got anything of me Dad playing spoons How about Bonny from Prefab Sprout.. suppose this band taught me that you write accessible songs in a way that is acceptable to the writer In the US its on the album called ‘2 wheels good the same album is called Steve McQueen over here rashrecords.co.uk/album/better-days reverbnation/rash 19. Prefab Sprout Bonny 20. The Penguin Party I Wanna Be A Cult via Gareth David Hall Hi debs cult was inspired by tie your mother down by Queen . Its part of the new songs co written by me and Dave and which feature a slight line up change . Jan plays bass ( shes a great bass player ) and I switch to guitar in an attempt to placate my inner guitar hero leanings ! penguinparty.bandcamp/ thepenguinparty facebook/thepenguinparty 21. Queen Tie Your Mother Down 22. Keith Fellows,(Duggy Degs & Dave Milligan) London To Brighton Car Race Seeing as its a kind of MUSICAL number I think the influence would have to have come from Consider Yourself from the musical OLIVER which is my favourite all time musical. Lionel Bart was a genius and couldnt write a note of music and had to sing all his tunes to someone else so they could do the score. What a guy! reverbnation/keithfellowsunpublished duggydegs.bandcamp/album/profound reverbnation/airbiscuit thepenguinparty.co.uk/ reverbnation/penguinparty 23. Lionel Bart (from Oliver) Consider Yourself 24. Dennis Holseybrook Go For A Ride outro......
