As we are now past the mid-point of summer, we in the Holy Land must begin to brace ourselves for the annual onslaught of essays, articles and e-books replete with such titles as "Iftar with the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade," "From the Mid-Atlantic to the Mideast; A Graduate Student in the Face of the Occupation," "A Child of the Nakhba Visits Her Ancestral Home," and "Graffiti on the Wall; Revolutionary Art and the Culture of Resistance, a Photo-Essay." We must face this inevitable deluge of self-affirming narcissism with courage, tenancity, and the comforting thought that my own book "Four Years Among the Brown-Skinned Orientals of the Levant" is out soon.
