As we cruise back home, our Great Himalayan Road Trip draws to a wonderfully encapsulated end. Entrenched within each of us would be sights, sounds, smells of the trip which seeded with the fishy, musty and dirty sights of Mumbai to cooler climes of Manali before entering the portals of paradise closest to earth. Rupam articulates the feeling very well. I remember him saying this must be where heaven and hell are closest. Very spontaneous and very apt. Ironically, the number crooning in Rupams Duster right now is - you wouldnt believe it- Chris Reas Road to Hell. Its easier to off road in the mountains than negotiating traffic in Indian highways. So here is how it stands with the lot of us. Pratas takes a flight in 4 hrs. Surajit and Rajib are back in Delhi. Rupam, Hareld and I have tomorrow to recuperate before Monday. Rathi is tucking in to sleep at Ahmedabad. Rocky and Debasis are scheduled to drove into Mumbai by early morning. It was a good trip.
