As we take stock of the waning Obama presidency, it looks like the financial crisis and the bailouts are going to be the episodes on which we form our judgments. Team Obama was not fully responsible for what the US government did, of course--Bush and Paulson set the trajectory. But in refusing to change the course they inherited, Obamas advisers determined the way we will deal with Wall Street for years to come.
