As with other invisible illnesses, mental illness is still - TopicsExpress

As with other invisible illnesses, mental illness is still stigmatized and stereotyped as not real, being dramatic, not being strong enough, just need to pull (oneself) up by the bootstraps, etc. Ive seen this article going around and in the contexts provided, its just insulting. Those able to self advocate and seek treatment may have medication included in their plan. All medications have side-effects and correlation does not prove causation. We already feel enough shame and guilt for having whatever we have. Dont need sanctimonious anecdotes on why the medication that helps us live better lives is now bad. Really not trying to be rude. My body, my choice.
