As you can see from the message below written by Roger McKnight, Monday’s September 16th Blood Drive here in Anthony,…. the appointments are way below the goal they’ve set! What would happen if you were in an accident, you become unexpectedly ill or you had a family member in need of a unit of the Gift of Life and there was none available? Fact is that I’ve talked to people that the sign of blood makes them pass out. The reason they say for not donating blood. is one of those, but she is a donor!! I think you’d pass out from lack of it! Blood CAN”T be manufactured, only donated and of the total U.S. population, only 38 % are eligible to donate. Looking at next week’s appointment total, the Blood Drive does need to beg for more donations. We are fortunate to have the Bloodmobile come to Anthony to collect and help those in need. Did you know that when you give blood, you’ll be doing one of the most amazing things anybody could dream of,------- save a life!! Why DEPEND on someone else who Donates the Gift of Life? Why not DONATE and be a hero to someone, somewhere who receives your gracious gift!! Here are some facts about blood needs: Every two seconds someone in the U.S. needs blood. More than 44,000 blood donations are needed every day. A total of 30 million blood components are transfused each year in the U.S. (2006). The average red blood cell transfusion is approximately 3 pints. The blood type most often requested by hospitals is Type O. The blood used in an emergency is already on the shelves before the event occurs. More than 1 million new people are diagnosed with cancer each year. Many of them will need blood, sometimes daily, during their chemotherapy treatment. A single car accident victim can require as many as 100 pints of blood. My dad got me interested years ago by taking me with him to the Bloodmobile. He gave each time they came to town, until an enlarged heart prevented him from giving. I still give lile he did, when it comes to Anthony or Harper. This will be my 145 time donation, as each time I think about someone who is thankful and grateful for your donation. Lets together overwhelm the Blood Drive and call to make an appointment for next Monday, share life and Donate Blood,….. It’s in you to give. Thank you. Tony Okay everyone, I’m begging for your help! The Blood Drive is less than a week away and we only have 35 appointments scheduled and 6 walk-ins. We have a goal of collecting 50 units and have already promised these units to the hospitals. We need to get at the very least 30 more donors to come donate, whether they schedule an appointment by calling 1-800-Red Cross or Walk-in the day of the blood drive. The blood drive date/time/location is below. Can you please help spread the word and ask people in the community to come and donate? Feel free to forward this email as well! Anyone 16 years old and up can donate (16 year olds need to have their parents sign a form). Tattoos are not excluded and neither is someone with Diabetes as long as it is under control. Our deferrals are constantly changing, if someone hasn’t donated for a while because they were deferred, please ask them to come and try again. If anyone has questions about donating, they can call me at (316) 213-3386. Please help us saves lives......
