As you may be aware there have been an increasing numbers of ‘residential boaters’ occupying the temporary visitor moorings on the river system, particularly around the town centres; this has made it increasingly difficult for visiting leisure boaters to find visitor moorings. It has also become a concern for local councils who would like to maintain their waterfronts for everyone’s benefit, boaters and local communities alike. This has been a particular issue on the Ely waterfront and the East Cambs District Council have been proactive in looking for a long term solution. There have been a series of consultations with key stakeholders and the lead from East Cambs, Julie Cornwell, has asked us to circulate a questionnaire to canvas boater opinion. Whilst this consultation refers specifically to the Ely waterfront, if successful it is possible it will be rolled out along the river system, It is very positive that the council they taking an active interest and are welcoming the input of the boating community. so if you can find time to fill out the questionnaire and forward the email to other interested Great Ouse boaters, we would be very grateful. The link below takes you to the page where the consultation is on the website – it can be completed on line. eastcambs.gov.uk/consultations/current-consultations Many Thanks Ben
