As you will likely notice if you are around school today, our 2014 mock trial competition is underway. We apologize in advance for any inconvenience caused by our expanding event. The competition is now 16 top advocacy teams from around the country (Washington DC, Florida, New York, Chicago, USDs from San Diego and South Dakota, Wisconsin, Nebraska, Alabama, and even, our WS rivals, Kansas City) and, due to our wonderful new teaching courtrooms and spaces, held entirely at GGU today and tomorrow. That means, we will host 8 trials today in the morning and 8 trials this afternoon in these rooms: 2201, 2202, 2203, 3201, 3203, 3200, 6208 & 6224. These trials are open so please feel free to peek in at any point in any courtroom. This year, we wrote problem as a federal wire fraud scheme case premised on reverse mortgages, a wine club, and false promises of a ticket to a better life (the latter may be my prosecutorial spin in closing). ggulitigation/in-vino-competition.html In addition to hosting more than 80 advocates and coaches from our competitor schools, another 40 witnesses and bailiffs from GGU Litigation will be joined by more than 100 trial judges and evaluators (including many alumni) swirling around the law school today and tomorrow as well. Special thanks to President Angel, Dean Van Cleave, Judge Lee Baxter, our 2014 Baxter fellows Jaclyn Merkis and Brent Kling (who have worked tirelessly over the last 2 months on this), GGU Litigation Alumni and former Baxter fellows, Houston Porter who coordinates the entire competitions movement to Petaluma on Sunday, Mateo, Derek & ATS, facilities, and my colleagues who are contributing by proving CLE training (Profs. Neitz & Cambre), accommodating us by moving classes, or evaluating this weekend (Dean Stanley, Profs. Morris, Glidden, Burton, Goldman, Sherwood, and many more). Thank you all for your support. Go GGU and, of course, go GIANTS!! WRP
