Asha Deep Yesterday, had the inauguration of Asha Deep at Jatni in Khurda District of Odisha. I was thinking of it for some time. It is a small effort to repay the gratitude of society. Initially 10 children age 6 to 14 have been picked up who stopped going to school due to some reason like death of earning member, or inability of family to pay the fee or children are working. But they have fire in them, they want to continue their study. Asha Deep is in the locality from where the children have been picked up. They are brought to Asha Deep by the teachers.Initially they are to be taught for 2 hours only. It is a one room rented accommodation. The teachers are from the same locality. They have zeal for social work but are paid some remuneration. Target is to prepare the children for the class they left and send them back to school. I have contacted a missionary school in the area who will take marginal fee for full year. Once this batch is sent to school, the next will begin. There are large number of children in waiting. This kind of small units can be replicated all over India...name may be any, can be by anybody...it is a direct service to society...these can be a part of big NGO..or taken together they can be an NGO.
