Ashlyn saw me checking her Hello Kitty McDonalds toy the other day - TopicsExpress

Ashlyn saw me checking her Hello Kitty McDonalds toy the other day to make sure it was not the one that was recently recalled and when I explained to her why she immediately said if hers was one of the the ones recalled then she wanted to just throw it away even though she liked it and that we would need to make sure we told other kids they needed to do the same thing. Well, this morning when I took Ashlyn to school and had breakfast with her she noticed one of the toys on another childs book bag and got this overly concerned look on her face and went straight into panic mode about finding out who the book bag belonged to so we could make sure their toy was not one that was recalled also. I didnt realize just how serious she was until I noticed her constantly starring at this one book bag while she was eating. When the kids started getting their bags off the table where she saw the bag with the toy, she stopped eating and told me that she was just gonna go over to the table when she saw whoever picked it up and tell them, but not to worry because she would be right back. Several kids grabbed bags at one time and she freaked out, looked up at me and said Oh no Mom, it could be any one of them......Im just gonna go tell the teachers and Ill be right back, she jumped up and went to the teachers and gave them a whole speech about the toy and the whole time she was talking with her hands and had this extremely serious look on her face........it took all I had not to laugh and I only wish I had been close enough to actually hear her. She came back to the table afterwards, but still continued watching all the other kids and at that point I tried to tell her several times that she had to quit obsessing over this and that everything would be okay, I even told her that it was on the news and showed her an online article to assure her that we were not the only people that knew about it, along with the teachers that she had also just informed about it and her reply to me was......Well, I just cant help it especially now that I know it was on the news and it is NOT okay if someone chokes Mom.......Im just trying to protect people. When I was leaving one of the teachers said it was funny how serious she was when she was explaining the recall to them and that it was very sweet that she was so concerned for the other kids. I had no idea that telling her why I was checking her toy would cause her to be so obsessed about something and apparently this has been going on a few days now because Kevin said that she gave him the serious/overly concerned speech about the same toy the other night also. Sure wish I had the whole incident from this morning on video.......she definitely made breakfast interesting today. Guess it looks like I now have a sweet little worry wart on my hands.......Lol
