Assam Assembly passed five bills effecting a hike in the salaries and allowances of ministers, MLAs, Speaker and Deputy Speaker, and the Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly yesterday. CMslaary has been revised to 90,000per month from the 65,000 and the MLAs’ salary revised to 60,000 per month from 40,000. Their daily allowances are same as those of ministers. The MLAs will also be entitled to a revised pension of 30,000 per month besides medical allowance Rs 15,000 per month, and a maximum travelling facility of 40,000 per annum. ......There was no problem in passing these bills.
