Asset Manager Grading The country’s mutual fund industry has witnessed notable evolution in the overall structure over the years. Initially equity funds remained the mainstay of the industry, followed by fixed income funds (mainly focused on corporate debt). Lately, money market and Government Bond Funds experienced substantial growth, attributable to risk averse environment succeeding the financial crisis (end-CY08). The interest rate environment has a big role to play in establishing the relative attractiveness of these products. Nevertheless, with the advent of commercial banks in the asset management industry through their subsidiaries, the industry has re-gained momentum.
