Assistant Egg Grader Manager Guthrie Center, IA POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Assistant Grader Manager is expected to achieve and level of competency which allows them to manage and supervise the entire egg production operation on a daily basis (machine and people). Other responsibilities include assuming the Egg Grader Manager’s duties and responsibilitiesin the Grader Manager’s absence. Assist the Grader Manager in supervising and coordinating the activities of workers engaged in processing shell egg product from a daily checklist: Schedule processing according to run sheet. In addition, the Assistant Grader Manager assists in verifying parts and supplies inventories. The Assistant Grader Manager assists in directing workers in government and company sanitation regulations. Inspects appearance and work methods of egg grader personnel for conformance to sanitation regulations. All duties should be performed in an exemplary and professional manner. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: (non-exclusive list) • Responsible for the following egg grader start-up s teps and daily operation requirements (this list is not exclusive): a. Monitor and regulate (if needed) specified egg washer soap levels, sanitizer and rinse levels (before start-up and during operation), insuring proper differential between wash and rinse temperatures. Also that egg washer is drained, cleaned and refilled at required time intervals. b.Must possess and bring with them to work all tools listed on attached tool sheet c. Coordinate regular communication with Quality Control manager with respect to egg product quality. Coordinate regular communication with Quality Control manager with respect to egg product quality. d.Assist Quality Control Inspector with monitoring proper egg weights and dates, and immediately correcting problems. e.Regularly monitor and adjust carton and box dating (make sure that daters have correct Julian date,expiration date, plant number and that all are printing legibly). f.Ensure grader is kept neat, clean and organized during operation (i.e., trash and egg are picked up before, during and after egg grader operation). g.Ensure that an accurate inventory is kept of reject s and that they are gone through in an efficient and timely manner. h.Ensure that denatured barrels are properly labeled and placed in the cooler each night. i. Ensure that grader is adequately staffed for the entire week. j .Ensure that candling area and candlers are ready for start-up. k. Ensure that top 3 people arrive ½ hour before start-up time. l. Perform dry run of packers to ensure that they are running properly. m. Ensure that run sheet is followed and that operation is set to run accordingly. (See Cooler Manager for run sheet changes or problems). n. Perform daily sanitation inspection of egg grader cleanliness. o.Employee promotion consideration, employee familiarization and compliance with all company policies and regulation, employee relations, employee grievances, and wage administration. p. Ensure egg grader compliance with all Federal, State, and Local directives and regulations. q. Regularly communicate with and also assist with routine egg grader maintenance, repairs and troubleshooting. r. Completion and transmittal of all appropriate paper work associated with egg grader operations and performance. s. Regularly communicate with house managers and regularly monitor egg flow from layer houses to grader. t. Alert (within a reasonable time frame) the Complex Manager any urgent or emergency situations, which require immediate attention or approval. u.Ensure housekeeping duties are routinely completed. v. Delegate necessary responsibilities to Assistant Grader Manager. •Familiarize themselves with and conform to all Biosecurity Program Policies •Familiarize and insure Egg Grader Personnel compliance and adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices Handbook (GMP) policies (applicable only to personnel at complexes with breaker plants). •Familiarize themselves with and comply with Rose Acre Farms’ Safety Program • Must be able to lift 50 lbs. • Must be able to reach area only accessible by ladder. • Must be able to climb to and work on equipment in hard-to-reach areas. (Second Shift Grader Manager): •Ensure that balance of daily production is completely ran out of the houses and processed. •Supervise entire egg-grader clean-up in the most productive, complete, and efficient manner. •Ensure that egg grader is running properly before going home. If assistance is needed, contact First Shift Grader Manager or Maintenance Manager. •Ensure that all partial cases are placed in cooler at end of production run. ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION: • High school diploma or equivalent required. • Capable of performing routine math calculations, including percentages and fractions. •Must be experienced in all phases of egg grader’s mechanical functions (i.e., troubleshooting, maintenance and repair and familiarizing themselves with grader operation manual). •Must be computer literate (i.e., working knowledge of WordPerfect, and Lotus 123). •Must be dependable, and be available to work flexible hours - including nights and weekends. •Ability to quickly address critical and urgent situations in a timely and consistent manner. •Possess good decision-making and organizational skills
