Assuming is not a good thing to do, truthfully really not ever, - TopicsExpress

Assuming is not a good thing to do, truthfully really not ever, but unfortunately it is a first instinct that we all engage in from time to time...ASSUMING. It is true what they say about the word of Assume. Here is what someone assumed on me while I as on Vacation in Myrtle Beach: Me, my husband & children went to one of the Malls on one day, but my husband took my younger daughter back to sit in the car because she got tired, and so I was out with 2 of my other children, my husbands step children, and we walked by a store and a vendor station owner, stopped me and my 2 children and said...are you looking for your husband? He went into that store behind you... I was shocked to be stopped and asked any question because I was just walking and minding my own business and not looking for my husband because I knew where he was, and the man who was telling me where my husband was didnt know me, and he was 100% incorrect about his assumption that I was looking for my husband. I knew that the man was assuming who he thought my husband would be and it had to do with my race, because my husband is White and I am Black and so are my children, his step-children. So, I decided to teach the man a quick lesson. I said to the man, who was White.....was the man a White guy who went into the store? and the vendor guy said No, he is Black, and then I said...well that is not my husband because he is White. The vendor guy stood there with his mouth wide open and looked stupid and realized that he had assumed incorrectly, which is usually the case when we assume. The best thing to do is to try your best to never assume, even though it is somewhat a natural instinct.
