Astounded to read what Durga Das Basu, the most-prolific, best-known and, largest-selling commentator on Constitution wrote regarding the demand of BJP calling for ceasing the operation of Art.370, in his famous book Introduction To The Constitution of India (Lexis Nexis, 21st Ed. 2013, Pg.281)- The Congress Govt has so far resisted the demand of the BJP on political grounds. History only can say what would happen if and when the BJP ever gains a position of predominance. Basu has dealt with the whole issue in some interesting detail and has also taken on A.G. Noorani. In my humble opinion, this present controversy is more of a political issue than a constitutional one, due to messy and complicated developments in last seven decades. No solution is possible unless the mandarins of North Block shed their perennial fear (pretension??) of autonomy of states. The blabbering of Abdullahs is not so consequential.
